Pools
Three long hikes in as many days, leaves BWG an exhausted boy.
The trip was worth it, despite the ferocious heat and humidity.
I made a visit Bride's Pool and Mirror Pool, two waterfalls near Plover Cove in the New Territories. The nicer of the two was Mirror Pool, pictured here.
I was wiped out afterward. I'd had a long walk to get there, along with some climbing to take photos. The place was remote; no taxis or public transport operate in the area. I had little choice but to walk back to the bus terminus at Plover Cove Reservoir.
Halfway back, a taxi driver pulled over and offered me a lift. He was taking a day off and had been out on a picnic with his wife. It was a gracious gesture which me and my aching feet happily accepted. He even offered to bypass the bus stop at the reservoir and took me all the way back to the KCR station instead.
I wanted to give him some cash for his trouble, but he refused to accept it. The man's name is Wan Tsz Ling, and his kind-hearted gesture was a great end a strenuous hike.
I plan to spend the rest of the evening with my feet up.
