No Eating and Drinking

A sign posted in the window by the door to a dessert shop had me scratching my head for a second or two.

It said: No eating and drinking.

In Chinese it said patrons could not consume food or drink purchased elsewhere inside the shop, but the English translation lacked clarity.

I felt guilty when we ordered dessert.
