Hong Kong's Loan sharks are inventive when intimidating suckers to pay up.

Thugs released eight 12-centimetre lizards into a public housing unit and threw red paint on the front gate.

This must be phase one. From here they progress to threatening notes, chaining the gate shut, lighting the outer door on fire, and in extreme cases, setting the whole flat ablaze.

In North America, loan sharks are more direct: they go straight to breaking your legs.
