Idea-Jacked: 2?
The first time I questioned whether I'd been idea-jacked, I was derided for having imagined the possibility.
When you have a web site from which images, text and design are ripped off, it's not difficult to understand why I reached that conclusion. This is the reason I have copyright notices (I was also jeered for this, but my work is worth being copyrighted). In the end, the Mao/mask idea turned out to be a coincidence; I let it go.
This political cartoon from the New York Post (April 25) might also have been derivitave of my idea, but then, it could be a coincidence.
The similarities are striking: the pose, the location of Tiananmen Square, and so on. I give the artist the benefit of the doubt, because the Iraqi Information Minister's photo has been merged into countless scenarios by Photoshop users around the web. Putting him in China doesn't require a huge stretch of the imagination.
On the other hand, I might be imagining it.
