Tourist Trap

Camera and electronics shops along Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui are well-known for scams and rip-offs, and therefore Nathan Road has earned its reputation as a tourist trap.

It isn't just electronics, but also jewellery, clothing, luggage, you name it. People have even been swindled and intimidated in Chinese herbal shops.

For the average tourist or those who aren't that savvy, Nathan Road is a hazard best avoided as far as shopping goes. The biggest card being played against them is often they're here for a short time; should they be ripped off, they seldom come back to fight for their money.

If you're looking for good deals, do your homework and know your prices at home before you get sucked in by the neon lights of the Golden Mile.
