SARS: Quarantine In Effect
Block E of Amoy Gardens has been placed under strict quarantine after 88 new SARS cases brought the total number infected from those estates to 213.
The quarantine will be in effect for the next 10 days. No one may enter or leave without the express written permission of a health officer.
The strange thing is most of the people infected lived in the same two flat units on several floors; the virus spread vertically. How that happened is anyone's guess.
The doctors don't know; they're trying to determine how this new virus works. Until they figure it out, nothing is certain.
Airborne transmission hasn't been ruled out, and concern has been raised that the bug has gotten into the building's water supply.
