Business for elderly female fortune tellers under the Canal Road overpass (known in Hong Kong as a flyover) has been thriving.
One of their services is an old ritual called beat the small man. A small man is someone who engenders loathing; a petty-minded oaf such as an employer, landlord or other person who abuses a position of minor authority.
For HK$40, the old ladies take a photo of someone you hate and pound the crap out of it with the heel of a shoe, all the while calling down curses upon the victim.
The question is: do the small men walk around with headaches all day long?
