Mercedes Bend Over
Hong Kong's official Mercedes-Benz dealer embarrassed itself by attempting to charge a female customer $12,398 (US $1,589) to repair her car's windshield wipers.
The lady declined their estimate and called her brother in England, who sent her the required part by post. She installed it herself. Her total cost was about $198. That's a far cry from the additional $12,200 the dealership tried to wheedle out of her.
The dealer hasn't commented on this, but they'll need to do some damage control. They'll have to explain whether they were sexist (ripping her off because she's a woman) or they were greedy (padding the bill because they thought they could get away with it).
Instead of installing those wipers, the dealer must concentrate on wiping the egg off its face.
