Christmas Hot Pot

Instead of the usual turkey dinner, Mabel and I had Chinese Hot Pot.

On a cold winter night, hot pot is the favourite way for families and friends to celebrate.

We ordered two separate kinds of soup base, one mild and one spicy satay, along with chicken, beef, spinach, tofu, lettuce and vegetable dumplings. Once the soup base had boiled, we threw everything into the pot and cooked it, using a ladle and chopsticks to retrieve the food we wanted to eat.

The best thing about hot pot is after we finished, we had no dishes to wash.

I didn't need to take a nap on the sofa, either.
