Staying Alive

In Stanley Market it was wall-to-wall US military service personnel.

I couldn't turn around without seeing a cluster of young men with buzz cuts sharpening their bargaining skills in the market's many stores.

The highlight of the afternoon came when I passed a bar on Stanley Main Street. A young serviceman with a big, goofy grin on his face put on an impromptu dance show to Staying Alive as locals looked on, laughing with delight. The kid had some moves. As I left I heard applause as he finished his recital.

That alone made the trip worth it.
