Hell Hath No Fury

Cases of husband-beatings has increased more than fourfold since 1998.

Most of the assaults were brought on when women suspected their husbands were cheating. The attacks were described as well-planned, whereas men often strike on impulse.

Well-planned: like waiting until a man falls asleep so she can cut off a certain appendage. Damn, that's cold.

Women have beaten their men because of the economic downturn; men found themselves out of work while women became the sole breadwinners. Their newfound independence has allowed them to express their anger. Many wives used to stay silent though unhappy in the marriage.

Men are reluctant to report abuse as it means a loss of face. Given that women often attack the face, such as by pouring boiling oil, using a chopper (meat cleaver) or throwing acid, it's better to lose face by making the report.

So much for that stupid stereotype of the docile Asian female.
