B Positive

In Hong Kong, time is different.

Twice I've been told it would take six weeks to get back membership cards in the mail and twice they've arrived in two weeks, not that I'm complaining.

I mention it because I donated blood on October 15th, and today my donor card landed in the mailbox.

Now I know my own blood type: B+. Not as rare as O-, A-, B- or the AB types, but still needed. Only 8.5% of people (1 in 12) have type B+ blood.

The Hong Kong Red Cross Transfusion Service has to collect 700 units of blood per day to ensure an adequate supply for emergencies and chronically ill patients.

They told me I could donate every three months, but given their wonky estimates of time, does that mean I can donate monthly?
