Hooded Hoods

When the cops arrest people in a high-profile crime, photojournalists and cameramen swarm to get images of the perps as they're herded into police vans.

Most of the time the bad guys are hooded. If not, the police have everyone bend forward and put their heads down.

I don't know why this is done; there may be a law against publishing a person's image before conviction. It may be the cops don't want criminals to be identified.

Regardless, it sure puts to rest the racist notion that all of those people look the same.

Were that true, they wouldn't need the hoods.
