Shark!

Many Hong Kong public beaches are equipped with shark nets.

Shark activity in Hong Kong occurs when ocean temperatures reach 25C. Past attacks include:

· 1991: an elderly woman died after being mauled.

· 1993: two people were killed by the same shark.

· 1995: three people died from shark attacks within 14 days.

Staying within the netted areas is the smart thing to do if you decide to have a dip in the ocean.

But remember, even if the sharks can't get you, the E. coli might.
